Song Selection Help and Request Page Information

Text Fading

At times, parts of the page will appear to 'fade', and then return to their normal colors. Whenever this happens, that part of the page is requesting more information from the server. This is normal behavior.

Searching for a Song

At this time, we only support searching for artist or title. In most cases, searching by song title will be the faster way to find your song. Attempting to search by artist and title will result in no matches found. This is a limitation of the software we use to search the library.

Keep in mind that some songs or artists will be more difficult to find than others. For example, the group "Simon and Garfunkel" may be entered as "Simon and Garfunkel" or as "Simon & Garfunkel" in our library, so typing in the whole artist name may return nothing. Typing "Simon" or "Garfunkel" would be a better way to search for this artist. The same holds true for songs as well. This isn't a big problem for most songs and artists, but some, especially those who use symbols (or words that can be replaced by symbols) in their names or in a song title, may be more difficult to find.

Search Tips

Selecting a Song

Use the radio buttons at the left of the table to select which song you want to hear.

If there are numbers across the bottom of the table, this indicates that more than 10 songs were found from the search submitted. The numbers are page numbers with 10 results per page, and clicking "2" brings you to page two, which has results 11 through 20. Search results are sorted by artist, then title, so if you're looking for a specific song, keep that in mind to help as you search.

Important Note on Sort Order

"The" is treated as part of both the song title and artist name. So all songs by "The Kinks" will actually appear after all songs by "Linkin Park" even though, with normal title ordering, "The" is ignored. This affects both songs and artists. Simon and Garfunkel's song "The Boxer" would appear after "Mrs. Robinson" for the same reason. This ordering is partly dependent upon how the information was entered as well. "The Kinks" may show up under both "Kinks" and "The Kinks", further confusing the issue of sort order.

Important Note on the Page Numbers

There is a known problem with the page numbers. Sometimes when you click the page numbers to change the page, it will fade to gray and come back without changing the displayed information. It is particularly noticable because the page number will turn from 'link unvisited' (typically a shade of blue) to 'link visited' (normally a shade of purple). If this happens just click the page number again.

While the table is faded, clicking the page numbers will still work. The table is configured to fade to provide you with a visual cue that your click was received.
